If you love travel and love Ohio, the job of Associate Editor role in our Content Studios team for the Ohio Magazine division of Great Lakes Publishing is for you. It’s not just a job – it’s an adventure!
We’re looking for a savvy editor with experience in reporting, writing, project management and editing various forms of writing for our client content in travel and other specialty fields. You’ll be part of a team producing award-winning publications, digital content and video scripts. Along with loving to travel, the ideal candidate must be detail oriented and have superior copyediting and rewriting skills, familiarity with AP style and the ability to juggle several projects at once.
As an editor for our Content Studios team, this person should be professional and work well in a client-driven environment in which creativity and organization are critical. This position reports to the managing editor and serves as project manager and client liaison for multiple projects occurring simultaneously.
Responsibilities:
- Assigns and edits stories for various client-driven products.
- Writes copy for client-driven products.
- Fact checks or assigns fact checking required by a project.
- Works directly with client as project manager and is responsible for deadlines.
- Collaborates with art directors, account executives and clients.
- Proofs and corrects pages in InCopy/InDesign.
- Manages internal databases, with a familiarity with Excel.
- Prioritizes multiple assignments in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Qualifications:
- A degree in communications, journalism, English or a related field.
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
- 3-5 clips that show skill at publication or client-driven writing.
- Must have a positive attitude, take direction and assert ideas quickly.
- Must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to handle several projects simultaneously.
- Solid grounding in journalism ethics and values.
- Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
